Master in Power engineering

The master's programme in Power Engineering at Silesian University of Technology runs three semesters and is taught in English, with annual tuition of 3000 EUR, at the university in Poland. Students build knowledge of energy generation processes, their utilisation, and environmental engineering methods aimed at minimising the impact of industrial and civil activity on the environment. The programme gives a complete education that allows graduates to design and operate production processes, manage dispatch, and work in energy management, particularly through energy-saving methods and renewable sources. Graduates are prepared to work at energy companies as well as in administrative departments within the energy sector. The curriculum spans information technologies, technical drawing, fundamentals of design informatics, technical mechanics, electrotechnics and electronics, metrology and experimental engineering, power engineering machines, strength of materials, CAD, electric machines, environmental protection in power engineering, fundamentals of machinery design, materials for structures and operation, technical thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, technologies of power engineering, transfer of electrical energy, water and wastewater in the power industry, and waste management and recycling. Further courses cover fundamentals of automatics, heat and mass transfer, operation of energy systems, energy management, financial analysis in power engineering, alternative energy sources, municipal and distributed energy systems, emission and transport of air pollutants, fuels and combustion, water quality management and wastewater treatment, waste management and thermal waste utilisation, and air pollution engineering and monitoring. This breadth reflects the multidisciplinary nature of power engineering, which combines mechanical and electrical engineering with environmental science, and graduates of programmes structured this way typically pursue careers as engineers in power generation, distribution, and environmental compliance roles, or continue toward further graduate study.
