Master in Environmental Engineering and Protection

Poznań, Poland Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The master's programme in Environmental Engineering and Protection at Poznan University of Life Sciences, in Poznan, Poland, is taught in English over four semesters. The course is designed for ambitious students and professionals interested in interdisciplinary approaches to environmental and spatial management, applying geo-information science and Earth observation techniques to real-world problems. Participants build wide-ranging knowledge and technical skills for analysing, interpreting, processing and implementing spatial and non-spatial databases, modern remote sensing techniques, and geoinformatics tools, opening opportunities in government and private-sector roles globally. Particular attention is given to modern remote sensing and geoinformation techniques and to spatial planning, in support of sustainable development in urban and rural areas. Students develop competences in organising and managing optical, airborne and UAV survey campaigns and in processing imaging spectroscopy data, in order to map and monitor natural ecosystems, artificial infrastructure and natural hazards. The curriculum also covers databases containing both spatial and non-spatial data, including data management, handling large databases, and query optimization techniques. Graduates are positioned for improved job prospects in the fast-growing geoinformatics industry, disaster management agencies, and government and private-sector employers across European and global markets. Core modules include environmental processes, giving students a foundation for understanding the systems they will later analyse using remote sensing and GIS tools. Poznan University of Life Sciences has a long-standing focus on agriculture, forestry and environmental sciences, and this programme extends that expertise into geospatial technology, positioning graduates at the intersection of environmental science, engineering and data analysis.
