Master in Soundscape & Environmental Media-Lab (SEM-Lab)

The Soundscape & Environmental Media-Lab (SEM-Lab) at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences invites students to engage with the latest technologies, such as 3D audio, 360° film, and augmented reality, to explore media as environments. This interdisciplinary lab, open to both students and established researchers, investigates the implications of these technologies on sound, music composition, audiovisual media design, and cultural perceptions. Projects range from installations and performances to scholarly research, with a focus on concepts like Acoustic Ecology, Media Aesthetic Education, and Artistic Research. The lab has collaborated with major institutions, including Sony Music, the Center for Art and Media ZKM, and the Hessischer Rundfunk, further enriching the academic and creative experience.
