About the Program

The Master's programme in Software Engineering at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences trains graduates to make strategic and tactical decisions in the selection and application of software systems and to lead software engineering projects. Three professional profiles allow students to shape their focus: IT Management (ITM), which addresses the impact of technological change on business strategy and includes exposure to medical technology applications; Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), which covers user research, requirements definition, prototyping, and system evaluation; and Advanced Software Engineering and Data Science (ASE), which focuses on enterprise-scale application design and data-driven problem solving. The programme runs over three semesters and is available with both winter and summer semester entry. The first two semesters cover the theoretical foundations of each profile area. The third semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis, which can address a contemporary research topic or be commissioned by a cooperating organisation and is supervised by two examiners, one of whom may be external.
