About the Program

The MSc in Software Engineering at the University of Augsburg covers both foundational and advanced topics across a broad range of software engineering disciplines. Core areas include software development processes, requirements engineering, project management, testing, model-based development, and embedded systems. The programme also addresses formal specification and verification techniques, relational and web-scale databases, data engineering, distributed systems, semantic web, service-based architectures, human-computer interaction, usability engineering, machine learning, data science, and adaptive systems. The programme runs over four semesters, with lectures, seminars, labs, and an industry internship taking place in the first three semesters. The Master's thesis is written in the fourth semester. The degree is jointly awarded by Augsburg University, Technische Universität München, and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. The programme starts each winter semester and is based at the University of Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany.
