Chemnitz University of Technology

Master in Automotive Software Engineering

Chemnitz, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Automotive Software Engineering is a four-semester Master's programme with a computer science orientation, focused on the highly complex hardware/software systems found in vehicles and aeroplanes. Designing and managing these systems demands specialised skills in software engineering and system design, which form the core subject matter of the degree. Research is deeply embedded in the programme. It is integrated into the Faculty's primary research field of Embedded Self-Organising Systems (ESS), and research-related content is incorporated directly into the teaching rather than reserved for a separate strand. In the third semester, a research-relevant seminar and a research internship or project are explicit curriculum components, giving students a structured point of entry into active research practice. Beyond the shared curriculum, the degree offers a wide range of specialisation options. Examples include Automotive Software Platforms and Software Verification, and the overall structure gives students considerable scope to develop depth in areas that match their interests or career direction. The programme admits graduates from a range of computer science, engineering, and electronics backgrounds. It starts in the winter semester and is based in Chemnitz, Germany.
