About the Program

Food Technology and Human Nutrition is a bachelor's program at the University of Agriculture in Krakow, taught in English over three and a half years — seven semesters — with yearly tuition of 3000 EUR. Delivered under the title Food Processing, Safety and Quality, graduates gain knowledge and skills spanning food industry processes, quality and safety science, and economics. Students are trained as specialists in food processing, preservation, storage, and food quality control. The program prepares graduates for engineering positions in enterprises, companies, or institutions engaged in food processing, quality control, or distribution. Coursework covers organizing and controlling production, including machinery and equipment selection, along with economic analysis and the principles of the food market and product marketing. After finishing the program, graduates are prepared to implement, supervise, and improve processing procedures, and to manage food safety and quality systems within enterprises. They also gain skills in assessing food product quality using sensory analysis and modern instrumental analysis methods, along with the ability to apply computer technology to food quality and safety management. Graduates are prepared to work in engineering roles across food industry enterprises, in plants handling the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food, and in quality control and product certification laboratories as well as control and measurement units. The program includes foreign language training, and students are expected to use specialist language relevant to the field. The university encourages ongoing professional development and prepares graduates to pursue further qualifications after completing the bachelor's degree. Kraków hosts the University of Agriculture as one of Poland's established centers for agricultural and food science education.
