About the Program

Food Technology at Fulda University of Applied Sciences is an interdisciplinary, practice-oriented bachelor's programme covering the full scope of food production. The curriculum addresses plant and animal raw material processing, beverage technology, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, quality assurance, food law, nutritional and physiological considerations, and the engineering principles behind industrial-scale production. The programme runs over seven semesters and begins in the winter semester. Teaching is conducted in both English and German. The first two semesters cover foundations in engineering, management, and scientific methods, with food-related modules beginning in the second semester. An eight-week practical internship is required before the start of the fourth semester. Subsequent semesters focus on food-specific topics including thermal and mechanical process engineering and hygiene requirements. The programme concludes after the sixth semester with an internship followed by a Bachelor's thesis. Students develop both technical knowledge and hands-on laboratory skills.
