Master in Electric Vehicle Propulsion and Control (E-PiCo)

The MSc in Electric Vehicle Propulsion and Control (E-PiCo+) is an Erasmus Mundus programme jointly delivered by five partner universities: École Centrale de Nantes (France), Università degli Studi dell'Aquila (Italy), National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (Romania), CINVESTAV (Mexico City, Mexico), and Kiel University (Germany). Students study at a minimum of two of these institutions. The programme runs over 4 semesters, starting in the winter semester, with all courses held in English. The first semester provides a foundation in automatic control and electric vehicles; the second covers electric vehicle components. In the third semester, students complete a specialisation at one of the partner universities. Kiel University's specialisation focuses on power electronics converters, fast charging stations, drives, and battery technologies. Other partner specialisations address artificial intelligence for EVs, advanced control and energy management, embedded systems, and battery storage systems. The fourth semester is devoted to the Master's thesis. Students who complete at least one study semester (second or third) at Kiel University receive the degree from Kiel University. The programme involves local and international industrial partners, giving students contact with researchers and practical experience with potential future employers. For those applying for an Erasmus Mundus or Consortium scholarship, the application deadline is 31 January each year. For self-financing applicants, the deadline is 30 April.
