About Master in Cognitive Science

The research-oriented Master's programme in Cognitive Science at the University of Potsdam develops knowledge and skills in cognitive science and embodied cognition. Over 4 semesters, starting in the winter semester, the programme deepens discipline-specific and methodological foundations acquired during undergraduate study, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and international collaboration. Students work with a broad range of methods to formulate questions about cognitive process analysis, model neurocognitive processes and systems, and design and implement experimental paradigms. The curriculum covers experimental and psychophysical methods, computer-based implementations in programming languages, data collection, and psychophysical measurement. Students also develop skills in identifying new research areas, refining analytical approaches, and presenting results for international dissemination. Graduates are qualified to work scientifically in the cognitive and neurosciences and for research or leadership positions in corresponding industrial sectors, with the capacity to conceptualise complex projects, formulate hypotheses, and examine them quantitatively. The programme is offered at the University of Potsdam in Potsdam, Germany.
