Hochschule Bielefeld – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI)

Bachelor in BEng Mechatronics and Automation with Work-Integrated Option

Gütersloh, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The BEng Mechatronics and Automation draws together elements from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. Students learn to improve the performance of technical systems during development and production, bring complex systems into operation, and service and optimise them. The programme also covers project management and teamwork in international settings. Running over 7 semesters starting in the winter semester, the programme includes a mandatory company internship to provide practical experience. The work-integrated variant allows students to be employed by a partner company throughout their studies: each semester consists of an academic term of lectures, seminars, and laboratory courses at the university, followed by a work term at the company. Students in the work-integrated track receive financial remuneration for their employment. Switching from the standard track to the work-integrated version is possible, as the courses of study are largely identical. Because the programme is taught in English and draws students from many countries, intercultural aspects are embedded in the curriculum. This is intended to prepare graduates for international company projects. The programme is offered at the Gütersloh campus of Hochschule Bielefeld.
