Bachelor Evangelische Theologie

At the University of Bamberg, the study of Evangelische Theologie covers Biblische Exegese, Dogmatik, Ethik, and Religionspädagogik, all of which are part of the scientific reflection of Christian faith and its societal significance. The degree can be combined with a range of other subjects, such as Pädagogik, Soziologie, Geschichte, or Kommunikationswissenschaften.

The main subjects are Biblical Theology (Old and New Testament), Systematic Theology (Ethics and Dogmatics), Religious Education and Didactics, Religious Studies, and Church History.

There are five key areas:

• Biblical Theology: With its focus on the Old and New Testaments, this area delves into the theological statements of biblical texts from the pre-state to the post-exilic period.
• Systematic Theology: This area includes Ethics and Dogmatics, exploring the central doctrines of the Christian faith, such as theology of God, Christology, and Eschatology.
• Religious Education and Didactics: This area focuses on the pedagogical and didactic aspects of religious education, including the development of teaching materials and methods.
• Religious Studies: This area provides an overview of the major world religions, including Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, as well as an introduction to comparative religious studies.
• Church History: This area covers the history of the Christian church, from its origins to the present day, as well as the development of its doctrines and practices.

Students also gain interreligious insights into Judaism and Islam. The programme also offers broad combination options with other subjects.
