Master in Sustainable Development (MSc)

This four-semester Master's programme takes an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability and transformation, drawing on the university's strengths in Geography and Economics. After a shared introductory phase, students can specialise through project seminars in Economics, Human Geography, or Physical Geography. Elective modules cover methods such as Advanced Statistics, Empirical Social Research, Environmental Modelling, and Remote Sensing. Students develop an understanding of ecological systems, nature-society relations, and the potential for innovation and transition, alongside skills in conducting independent research and in communication, teamwork, and leadership. The programme has a clear research orientation and starts in the winter semester at Marburg University in Marburg, Germany.
