Master in Sustainable Development Management, MA

The Sustainable Development Management MA centres on the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. It addresses the practical and policy challenges of translating global sustainability commitments into action, drawing on economics and political science alongside empirical methods and project management. Course content is structured around the typical project cycle, moving from planning and implementation through to critical evaluation of results. Students learn to navigate both the academic discourse on sustainable development and the operational realities of delivering projects in the field. Running over 3 semesters, the programme admits students in the winter and summer semester. The duration can extend depending on the undergraduate degree held at entry. The third semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis, which may involve fieldwork or participation in a live development project. The programme is taught at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve, Germany.
