The MSc runs over two full-time years. In the first year you attend taught modules covering deep learning, health data analytics, Bayesian inference, mathematical and research skills, statistical inference and statistical machine learning. The second year adds further taught modules and culminates in a 60-credit Statistical Data Science Project, allowing you to apply the techniques you have learned.

The programme focuses on the intersection of statistical theory and data-science practice. You study how to analyse, interpret and model complex data sets, using programming in Python and R, and explore methods such as neural networks, optimisation and machine learning. Graduates are prepared for roles that require data-driven decision making in sectors such as finance, healthcare, technology and government.
