About the Program

The Master's programme in Neural and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Tübingen covers the neuroscientific and cognitive dimensions of brain function. Courses include lectures on functional neuroanatomy, sensory and motor systems, statistics, mathematics, theoretical and computational neuroscience, Matlab programming, neurophysiology, methods in neuroscience, behaviour and cognition, sensorimotor integration, neuropsychology, and functional brain imaging. The programme runs over 4 semesters and begins in the winter semester. The first and second semesters are devoted to theoretical coursework, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and journal clubs, with examinations at the end of each. The third semester consists of two laboratory rotations of ten weeks each. The fourth semester is set aside for a six-month Master's thesis. Both the laboratory rotations and the thesis can be completed in a research group of the student's choosing. The programme is suited to students holding a first degree in biology, biomedical science, medicine, psychology, cognitive science, computer science, or a related field with a strong interest in biomedical and cognitive neuroscience.
