About the Program

The Master's in Translational Neuroscience at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is designed to train scientists capable of connecting basic neuroscience research with clinical applications for neurological, neurodegenerative, and psychiatric diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and brain tumours. Depending on individual interests, students can orient their studies around one of three focus areas: Neuroimaging, Regeneration of CNS Trauma, or Molecular Basics of Neurodegeneration and Neuroinflammation. The programme spans 4 semesters. The first two semesters consist of six Master's modules covering neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, methods in neurosciences, and two sets of translational neuroscience content, alongside modules on research ethics and techniques. The third semester comprises two three-month practical placements with accompanying courses in scientific writing and data analysis. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis with colloquium. German language courses are integrated into the programme. The programme is based at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany.
