Master in MSc Quantum Science and Technology

The MSc Quantum Science and Technology at Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a two-year, all-English programme covering quantum mechanics, quantum information, communication, computing, imaging, sensing, and further areas of quantum technology. The curriculum spans both fundamental scientific subjects and application-oriented quantum engineering, and is designed to accommodate students from different national and disciplinary backgrounds. The programme is structured over four semesters. The first semester begins with a compulsory adjustment and essentials module of foundational lectures, alongside practical research training in the university's research-grade laboratories. The second semester continues with further essentials and begins specialisation. The third semester focuses on specialisation and research, and the fourth is dedicated to the Master's thesis project. Students receive individual counselling on subject selection throughout and have increasing freedom to choose from the course catalogue as the programme progresses.
