Master in Molecular Biomedicine (MSc)

Oldenburg, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The Master's programme in Molecular Biomedicine at the University of Oldenburg links the molecular life sciences with medicine by examining cellular and molecular processes with direct relevance to medical questions. The programme is explicitly interdisciplinary, aiming to bridge the divide between natural science methods and clinical thinking through research-oriented project work. The curriculum focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cellular processes. Within neuroscience, students can specialise in biochemistry, genetics, molecular and cell biology, and electrophysiology, using a range of techniques including microscopic methods, heterologous gene expression, and electrophysiological measurements. Specialisation is also available in neurogenetics, human genetics, genetics of childhood brain malformation, ophthalmology, and geriatrics, encompassing degenerative diseases, genetic diagnostic therapies, and regenerative medicine. The programme runs over 4 semesters beginning in the winter semester, with a modular structure drawing on medicine, neuroscience, and biology. The curriculum is flexible, allowing students to select modules in line with their research interests. English-language instruction is available, and students may supplement their studies with integrated English-language courses. The programme is offered at the University of Oldenburg in Oldenburg, Germany.
