About Masterstudiengang Politikwissenschaft

Graduates of the Masterstudiengang Politikwissenschaft (Master of Arts in Political Science) move into diverse roles in the public sector, NGOs, think tanks, and academia, such as research assistants at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg and various governmental and non-governmental institutions. Four modules are compulsory in the first year: Introduction to Political Science, Public Policy and Administration, Political Theory, and Social Research Methods. The programme emphasises both theoretical and applied aspects of political science. While the first year focuses on core modules, the second year allows for specialisation. Students can choose from a range of electives, among which are Theories of Democracy, Globalisation and Politics, and Political Psychology. A Master's thesis is also required, providing an opportunity to conduct independent research under the supervision of faculty members. The programme is known for its strong research focus and close connection with the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg, offering a diverse academic environment and a wide range of networking opportunities.
