The MA in 3D Animation for Film and Games at ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln is a four-semester, project-oriented postgraduate programme aimed at media professionals from film, games, media design, and architecture. The programme explores the intersection of film and games shaped by technological developments and combines scholarship with craft through a strongly interdisciplinary and international environment. The curriculum is divided into project modules and theory modules. In the first three semesters, project modules account for 14 of 22 ECTS per semester. Alongside these, students receive instruction in animation history and theory, media and games studies, methods and tools, and tutorials. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's project and thesis, which culminate in a public presentation and defence. The programme is structured to allow students to hold a part-time job, with approximately 12 hours of seminars, lectures, and mentoring sessions per week during the lecture period, on Mondays and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Admission requires a first higher education degree and at least 12 months of relevant professional experience. The programme is based at ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln in Cologne.
