Bachelor in Industrial Engineering Life Sciences

Industrial Engineering Life Sciences bridges the fields of life sciences and business management, addressing the dual need for technical expertise and commercial skills in the food and biotechnology sectors. The programme covers both life sciences content — centred on product and process optimisation and food product innovation — and business content in quality management, innovation, and marketing. Students choose a specialisation in either Food Technology or Industrial Biotechnology. The programme runs over seven semesters, beginning in the winter semester. The first year provides scientific, engineering, and business foundations. From the third semester onward, in-depth compulsory modules in food technology, industrial biotechnology, engineering, and management prepare students directly for professional roles. A basic eight-week internship must be completed by the start of the fourth semester. Courses are conducted in both English and German, and various foreign language courses are also available. Graduates are prepared for junior management roles in the life sciences sector, with opportunities in production, corporate development, and innovation management.
