About MSc Environmental Chemistry

Applications are due 15 June.

The MSc in Environmental Chemistry is an interdisciplinary, internationally-oriented programme addressing global environmental challenges arising from industrialisation and over-exploitation of natural resources. Coursework covers the environmental compartments of air, soil, and water alongside inorganic and organic chemistry, microbiology, toxicology, ecosystem analysis, and human-environment interactions. Modules are also offered in chemical modelling, analytics, experimental biogeochemistry, and isotope geochemistry. The programme runs over 4 semesters full-time (or 8 semesters part-time) and starts in the winter semester. The first semester emphasises foundational lectures and practical courses to establish a common level across the cohort. Practical course components increase in semesters two and three, where project-like modules and seminars promote scientific communication. The degree concludes with an MSc thesis. All courses are offered annually and new students may only enter in the winter semester. The programme is offered at the University of Bayreuth in Bayreuth.
