From the management of built heritage to the optimization of complex transportation systems, this doctoral programme positions itself at the intersection of rigorous scientific inquiry and practical engineering application. Housed within the Faculty of Built Environment on the Hervanta Campus, the programme offers doctoral candidates a structured pathway to earn a Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Science (Architecture), or Doctor of Science (Technology) over a standard four-year period.

Research Specializations

The programme is divided into two primary academic pillars, allowing for deep specialization:

• Architecture and Urban Planning and Design: Focuses on the management of built heritage, architectural design, and modern urban planning strategies.
• Civil and Infrastructure Engineering: Encompasses structural engineering, construction management and economics, infrastructure systems, and transportation engineering.
