About BA Digital Media

The Bachelor's in Digital Media at Leuphana University Lüneburg is a six-semester undergraduate programme offered in cooperation with the Hamburg Media School. It combines media theory with practical production, covering both the critical and applied dimensions of digital media. Students develop their own projects, which may include formats such as a short documentary, a podcast, or a small game. The degree is structured around four elements: the Digital Media major (90 ECTS), a minor of the student's choice (30 ECTS), the Leuphana Semester (30 ECTS), and complementary studies (30 ECTS). The Leuphana Semester opens the programme and establishes methodological and disciplinary foundations. From the second semester, students take the Digital Media major alongside a chosen minor — options include Popular Music Studies, Philosophy, Psychology and Society, and Sustainability Science — and complementary studies that allow exploration of methods from other disciplines. Half of the courses are taught at Hamburg Media School, with the other half at Leuphana University Lüneburg. An option exists to pursue a double degree, with one degree from Leuphana and one from the City University of Hong Kong. The programme is based at Leuphana University Lüneburg in Lüneburg, Germany.
