About the Program

A master's degree in electrical engineering extends undergraduate training into more focused, research-oriented study, typically built around a thesis in an area such as power electronics, communications, integrated circuits, control systems, or signal processing. At this level, students work with greater independence, strengthening their command of mathematical modeling, simulation tools, and experimental methods while concentrating on a narrower slice of the discipline than they would have covered in a bachelor's program. Advanced coursework and seminars generally introduce students to active research questions and the methods used to address them, helping to prepare graduates for either technically demanding roles in industry or continued study toward a doctorate. Because electrical engineering covers such a wide span of applications, from communications and computing hardware to power and energy systems, a master's program allows for real specialization in one or two subfields rather than a broad survey. This program is offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Central University, located in Northern Taiwan, Taiwan, with instruction delivered in English, allowing international students to complete the degree without needing Chinese-language coursework. Graduates commonly go on to engineering roles with expanded technical responsibility, research and development positions in electronics, telecommunications, or semiconductor companies, or continue toward doctoral study to pursue original research in their area of specialization.
