About the Program

Data Science at Technische Universität Braunschweig is a four-semester master's programme jointly offered by the departments of Computer Science and Mathematics, with participation from all other faculties through application areas. The programme covers three core areas: mathematical foundations for data analysis, data processing and management in computer science, and applied data science across fields including engineering, biology, chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, and image and signal processing. The curriculum divides into a ramp-up phase (10 credit points), compulsory electives in Methods and Concepts of Computational Sciences (25 credit points), Methods and Concepts of Mathematics (25 credit points), Data Science in Applications (15-20 credit points), and Key Qualifications and Ethics (10-15 credit points), followed by a Master's thesis and presentation (30 credit points). Ramp-up courses in mathematics and computer science bring students from different backgrounds to a comparable level. Each student develops an individual study plan with their tutor at the beginning of the programme. The Master's thesis is written over six months at one of the institutes in computer science or mathematics, typically in connection with an application area. Entry is available in both winter and summer semesters. The programme is based at Technische Universität Braunschweig in Braunschweig, Germany.
