About Bachelor in Computer science

Computer Science is a bachelor's degree program at the University of Bialystok, taught in English in Bialystok, Poland, over 3 years. The first-degree full-time program lasts 3 years, structured as six semesters, and graduates receive a bachelor's degree, known in Polish as licencjat, after completing a diploma thesis and a successful diploma defence. During the course of study, students can earn up to 182 ECTS credit points under the European Credit Transfer System. Starting from the fifth semester, students are required to choose 6 elective courses in addition to the standard programme curriculum. In the second year, students complete a 120-hour internship at selected IT companies or the IT departments of other institutions, such as public administration bodies, learning about the role and goals of IT within an organization, the structure and organization of IT units, and the rules of teamwork. One of the program's main objectives is to educate qualified graduates able to skillfully adjust to the changing needs of the job market, and studying for the first degree is also a period in which students discover their own predispositions and decide on their academic and professional future. Graduates may subsequently apply for master's degree studies and choose a specialization within the second-degree Computer Science programme at the University of Bialystok, continuing their technical training at a more advanced level.
