The Master's programme in Chemical and Energy Engineering at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is a four-semester, English-taught degree that trains engineers to use physical, chemical, and biological processes to convert and transform materials across sectors including biotechnology, medical technology, and microelectronics. The programme accepts intakes for both the winter and summer semester. The curriculum begins with foundational modules in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, chemistry, and mechanical, thermal, and chemical process engineering to bring students from different backgrounds to a common scientific level. From there, teaching moves to applied chemical engineering, with students able to arrange their own module selection from the available courses based on individual interests. Students participate in ten practical laboratory projects covering topics such as estimation of kinetic rate constants, laser droplet velocimetry, and determination of heat transfer coefficients. The fourth semester is dedicated entirely to the Master's thesis. All 22 professors of the faculty are involved in teaching, and the programme draws on partnerships with industry to maintain a practical orientation. The programme is offered in Magdeburg, Germany.
