About the Program

The BSc in Mechanical Engineering at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences is a seven-semester programme taught entirely in English, covering mechanical engineering with a focus on design, manufacturing, mobility, and energy supply in a digitalised environment. The programme is divided into foundational studies in the first three semesters and core studies from the fourth semester through to the seventh. The programme starts in the summer semester only. The foundational semesters cover mathematical, scientific, and technical fundamentals. From semester four onward, students deepen and apply their knowledge through elective courses that allow specialisation in areas including product development and product lifecycle design, manufacturing, digitalisation, sustainable energy, software applications, and ethics in engineering. Specific elective examples include modelling and simulation, vehicle dynamics, additive manufacturing, robotics, and cyber physical production systems. A three-month industry internship in the seventh semester provides practical exposure and industry contacts, followed by the Bachelor's thesis. Graduates are prepared to enter sectors such as mechanical engineering, aviation, automotive manufacturing, energy technology, healthcare technology, marine industry, and related fields.
