Master in Bioinformatics (MSc)

The Master's programme in Bioinformatics at the University of Tübingen spans courses in bioinformatics, computer science, and life sciences. The central objective is to enable graduates to solve biological problems using high throughput technologies and bioinformatics methods in an interdisciplinary team. Teaching emphasises algorithmic thinking, efficient methods of analysis, visualisation, and mass data storage, with a consistent focus on research and hands-on work. Subjects available include genomics and transcriptomics, protein and drug design, microbiome analysis, and systems biology, among others. The programme runs over four semesters and can start in either the winter or summer semester. Three variants exist: variant A for students with a bioinformatics background, variant B for biologists and life scientists, and variant C for computer scientists.
