Welder Apprenticeship

Students learn welding techniques such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW in a hands-on environment. They practice working with different metals and operating welding machines under industry standards. Classroom instruction covers blueprint reading, safety procedures, and quality control methods. Students complete on-the-job training while attending structured classroom sessions each year.

3 years with 8 weeks of classroom instruction each year and a minimum of 1,560 hours of on-the-job training annually. Includes co-op through apprenticeship model.

Graduates work as journeyperson welders in industries such as manufacturing, pipeline construction, and structural fabrication.

ELA 30-2 and Math 30-3, or ELA 10-2 and Math 10-3, or pass on all five Canadian GED tests, or successful completion of AIT’s entrance exam.

On-campus, full-time, 3 years.
