This programme offers a significant focus on the Netwerk Muziekdocenten Docenten Pabo— a national initiative that has been offering this qualification for several years. HLZ is a university of applied sciences with extensive experience in teacher training.

Vlakstudent Muziek, a 200-hour part-time programme, is based on a unique partnership with the SLO. As a result, the competencies developed in the programme are closely aligned with current teaching methods in primary music education. The curriculum is competency-based, focusing on skills such as singing, playing instruments, listening to music, notating, and moving to music.

Students work on their individual learning plans, tailored to their own level and practical situation. In addition to group meetings, there is also a need for supervised study, peer consultation, practical tasks, and team discussions. The programme is structured around musical themes, with each meeting providing attention to both theoretical and didactic deepening, practice, and exchange. The teacher gives input, and participants receive assignments and feedback.
