About The Good Friday Agreement in Practice

If you are a public servant in either jurisdiction of the island of Ireland who already holds a role involving the North-South implementation bodies, or you are a junior colleague preparing to take on such responsibilities, this Certificate in the Good Friday Agreement in Practice will build on your existing knowledge of public administration and cross-border cooperation. It is also relevant for staff in organisations that work on all-island issues, such as the North South Ministerial Council, Waterways Ireland or InterTrade Ireland. A distinctive feature of the programme is its delivery through three one-day, on-campus sessions totalling 24 hours of face-to-face learning, complemented by 12 hours of directed study and continuous assessment. The course focuses on the legislative remits, governance structures and operational processes of the implementation bodies created under the 1998 Agreement, and provides the skills needed to identify best practice and address obstacles to cooperation.
