Tuition is £29,310 (full-time).

Students start the year with the core module Advanced Metallurgy and Manufacturing (20 credits), which introduces key concepts in metallurgy and modern manufacturing processes.

During the autumn and spring terms you attend lectures, seminars and laboratory sessions that comprise sixty credits of taught modules, while simultaneously developing your individual research project. The project, worth 120 credits, is undertaken over the summer and is assessed by both internal and external examiners.

The programme prepares you to tackle material challenges across sectors such as aerospace, energy storage, biomedical implants and electronics. By studying topics from materials modelling to surface engineering, you become a materials specialist who can contribute to both fundamental research and industrial applications.
