During the foundation year you study modules such as Study Skills and Information Technology, Fundamental Tools for Engineers, and Foundation Mathematics, building the core engineering knowledge required for robotics work. The programme then expands to cover analogue and digital electronic systems, mechanics, robotics, mechatronics, microprocessors, control systems and computer programming across four years.

Graduates move into roles designing robotic and mechatronic systems for high-value manufacturing, aerospace, the nuclear industry, the Ministry of Defence or research and development, and may continue to postgraduate study or professional registration.

A solid foundation leads to a full BEng (Hons) Robotics Engineering degree.
