About the Program

The PhD in Quantum Machine Learning to Secure Internet of Medical Things addresses the critical challenge of cybersecurity in medical networks. The increasing use of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices has exposed medical networks to heightened cybersecurity risks, and conventional security systems are often inadequate in handling the complex and growing volume of these threats effectively.

This project is supervised by Dr Fahad Ahmad and based in the School of Computing at the University of Portsmouth. It aims to develop a prototype using Quantum Machine Learning (QML), with a focus on Generative Models (GM), to bolster the security of IoMT systems. The initiative aims to establish a system capable of accurately predicting and immediately neutralizing potential security threats, thereby safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of medical data. This will be achieved through a specific QML algorithm for pattern recognition and anomaly detection tailored to the IoMT environment, the construction of a working prototype, and rigorous testing under various scenarios.
