Primary Care Paramedic

This programme prepares students for pre-hospital emergency care in diverse settings. It focuses on medical and trauma emergencies, mental health, obstetrics, and pharmacology. Students gain hands-on experience through hospital and ambulance practicums. Training includes simulation, field work, and inter-professional education with other health students.

Focus areas include medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, mental health, obstetrical emergencies, pharmacology, cardiac and respiratory emergencies.

One year, full-time, on-campus. Includes classroom, lab, simulation, field practicum, and clinical practicum. No co-op or practicum mentioned as separate component.

Graduates work as primary care paramedics in ambulance, air ambulance, fire protection, military, and industrial settings.

Grade 12 with minimum 60% average in 30-level English Language Arts, one of Biology 30 or Chemistry 30, and one of Workplace and Apprenticeship Math 30, Foundations of Math 30, or Pre-Calculus 30. English language proficiency required for non-native speakers. Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search required. Standard First Aid, CPR C AED, TLR® certification, immunizations, N95 mask testing, and WHMIS 2015 GHS certification required before program start.
