Preparatory course in Polish

The University of Lodz, based in Łódź, runs a 9-month preparatory course in Polish, a non-degree program with English as the language of instruction. The course begins on 2026-10-01, and the application deadline is 2026-09-01. Yearly tuition is 3000 EUR, reduced by 30% for applicants of Polish origin. The program combines Polish language study with subjects related to a student's intended field, and only participants receive a student ID. Two tracks are available: one for applicants pursuing university studies, who choose a specialization in humanities, medical sciences, technical sciences, economy or agriculture, and one for applicants pursuing postgraduate or doctoral studies, which requires permission from the Polish Ministry of Education. Students who complete the 9-month course are accepted at most Polish universities without an entrance exam. The Polish Language Centre for Foreigners at the University of Lodz is described as the only center of its kind preparing students for medical studies in Poland, and the course ends with an integrated test exam for medical studies organized at the request of the Department of Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Health in Warsaw. Learning starts at different levels depending on a student's existing Polish. Applicants for university studies should provide a General Certificate of Education A-level or a photocopy; applicants for doctoral or postgraduate studies should provide an M.A. or M.Sc. degree certificate. Preparatory courses of this length aim to bring international students to the level of Polish needed for full degree study, while also introducing subject terminology relevant to their future field, whether that is engineering, medicine, economics or the humanities.
