Postgraduate Certificate AMHP 2025/26

For Postgraduate Certificate AMHP 2025/26, applications close 30th June 2025.

Graduates of the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) postgraduate certificate are able to apply for approval as AMHPs with their Local Authority and typically work in mental health services, hospitals, community teams or specialist learning disability settings.

The programme begins with the introductory module SWK-7011A, Policy, Practice and Evidence in Mental Health, a 20-credit, part-time course delivered over ten weeks from 17 September to 19 November 2025. This foundation leads into the core module SWK-7047B, a 60-credit full-time block running from 19 January to 7 May 2026, which includes at least 35 days of placement with a sponsoring agency.

Teaching combines lectures, discussions, group work and self-directed study, and assessment comprises essays, oral and written law tests and a case-study portfolio. The course is regulated by Social Work England and can contribute credits towards the MA in Advanced Social Work.
