Master in Photonics, Master of Science (Technology) (2 years)

This two-year master's programme in Photonics builds expertise in optics and photonics at both theoretical and experimental levels. The curriculum covers the understanding of optical phenomena, the design and analysis of optical systems, fabrication methods for photonics structures, and scientific and technical communication within the field. Students develop the capacity to work with a wide range of photonics problems across both theoretical frameworks and practical laboratory settings. The programme starts in September 2026 and runs for two years. It equips graduates to take on expert and development roles in photonics-related companies, and also provides the necessary grounding for those who wish to continue into doctoral studies in the field. The programme is offered at the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu.
