PhD AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards 2026/27

Applications close 6 February 2026.

Each AHRC Doctoral Landscape Award funds a full-time PhD for 3.5 years, covering tuition fees and a stipend at the UKRI minimum rate. An optional six-month extension can be used for industry placement or specialist training. Applicants propose their own interdisciplinary research projects, aligning with UEA’s CreativeUEA, ClimateUEA or HealthUEA themes, and submit a proposal of no more than 1500 words.

The awards support a range of doctoral pathways, including traditional written theses, creative-critical PhDs and professional practice doctorates. Recipients join the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, benefit from the AHRC Doctoral Landscape Hub led by King’s College London, and often progress to academic research posts, cultural organisations, or policy-focused roles. The programme also reserves at least one place for candidates from widening-participation backgrounds, reflecting the Faculty’s commitment to diversity.
