About Master in Pharmacy

At Atlantic Technological University, tuition is Total Fees Non-EU: €12,000 (stated duration: 5 year(s)) — no per-annum wording, treated as a whole-programme total, not annualised, while applications close 1 February.

The programme runs over five academic years. Years 1-3 focus on the scientific foundations of pharmacy, including human physiology, drug action and pharmaceutical chemistry. Years 4-5 shift towards professional practice, with advanced clinical therapeutics and a substantial work-placement component. After four successful years students may exit with a BSc (Honours) in Pharmacy, but only the full five years lead to the MPharm qualification required for registration.

A distinctive feature is the integrated experiential learning. In Year 2 students complete a two-week placement; Year 4 includes a four-month placement in a community, hospital or industry setting under a tutor pharmacist; and Year 5 culminates in an eight-month patient-facing placement in a community or hospital pharmacy supervised by a senior preceptor. These placements are supported by regular site visits and the Model Pharmacy and Pharmacy Professional Practical Centre, where students handle dispensing systems and simulate patient interactions.

The course is accredited by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, so graduates are eligible to register as pharmacists in Ireland and across the EU. The curriculum also prepares graduates for careers in clinical pharmacy, the pharmaceutical and MedTech industries, regulatory affairs, research and academia.
