Perioperative Nursing/LPN

At Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Prince Albert, tuition is $5,420 for the 2026-27 academic year.

This program builds on nursing theory and practice with a focus on surgical environments. Students learn the nursing process and technical skills for perioperative care. They develop expertise in aseptic technique and patient safety during surgical procedures. The curriculum prepares students to work as scrub or circulating nurses in operating rooms.

Eight months full-time or three years part-time. Five theory courses over 22 weeks. Online delivery with one-week onsite lab and 10-week clinical practice. Includes instructor-led and preceptored components.

Graduates work as perioperative nurses in hospital operating rooms, ambulatory surgery centres, and freestanding clinics.

Active and current license with the practical nurses' licensing body in the province of clinical placement. Proof of completion of Administration of Medications for LPNs, NURS 1601 Catheterization, and PHAR 1602 IM Completer course for certain graduates. English requirement met through licensure.
