Programme Overview

The Master of Technology programme in Biomedical Engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) was started in 1989. It has been continuously updated with new courses and laboratories to meet international standards, including Probability, Random Variables & Stochastic Processes, Embedded Systems, Tissue Engineering, Research Methodology & Technical Communication, Pattern Recognition, and Signal & Image Processing in MATLAB.

Facilities

Students have access to a PowerLab four-channel physiological signal acquisition system with bio-stimulator (for ECG, EEG, EMG, EOG, respiration, pulse, and BP signals), a hand-grip dynamometer, Instrumentation and Electronics laboratories, a Computing lab, a Research lab, and a Biomaterials and Cell Culture lab. Most core subjects include practical sessions, and mandatory industrial training plus a final-year R&D project round out the curriculum.
