About the Program

The MSc in Micro- and Nanotechnology at Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences can be completed in three semesters as a full-time student or six semesters as a part-time student, with intake in both winter and summer semesters. The programme is interdisciplinary and builds on a foundation in quantum physics, with a curriculum divided between required modules and elective modules that constitute the majority of the degree. Elective modules cover two areas. The first focuses on topics specific to microtechnology and nanotechnology, including microanalytics, nanoanalytics, materials used in these fields, biomicrotechnology, bionanotechnology, and electrochemical storage systems. The second addresses applications across optics and photonics, chemistry, biotechnology, electronics, modelling and simulation, automotive technologies, aerospace, space flight, and mechatronics. General studies modules address knowledge management, start-up business skills, and management. The programme also incorporates lab classes, a project study, and a master's thesis. The lab class in nanotechnology requires prior completion of the microtechnology lab class. The programme can be completed in English, though German language skills at A2 level are required for a broader range of electives and for securing projects and thesis opportunities within German-based settings. The programme is offered at Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany.
