Master in M.Sc. Clinical Embryology

Programme Overview

Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, was the first institution to establish a Clinical Embryology sub-specialty in Asia, in 2005, aiming to provide thorough academic training, research experience, ethics, and skills related to human preimplantation embryology and infertility. Doctoral and post-doctoral level training in assisted reproductive technology (ART) was introduced in 2007.

Approximately one in eight couples experience some form of infertility, making it one of the most common medical problems of reproductive age. Though advancements have been made in both clinical and laboratory aspects of ART, further research is needed to improve outcomes, and the ART industry needs competent clinical embryologists to provide quality, ethical treatment.

Centre of Excellence

The Centre of Excellence in Clinical Embryology is one of the top centres in Asia for advanced training and research in embryology and infertility. Its clinical wing, the Manipal Assisted Reproduction Centre, treats approximately ten thousand infertile patients every year and offers modern ART techniques including preimplantation genetic testing and fertility preservation.
