About Master in MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner)

The Advanced Neonatal Studies module builds on a pre-course basic science package and prepares you to provide high quality neonatal care, forming a core part of the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner). It combines theoretical learning with simulated and practice-based assessment, giving you the skills to assess and examine newborns, manage advanced neonatal pharmacology and make diagnostic decisions. The part-time programme runs for 2 to 5 years and follows the NHSE-accredited pathway, allowing progression through NHS bands to senior roles. You study alongside other health professionals, covering the four pillars of advanced practice – clinical practice, leadership, education and research – and you may also obtain the V300 non-medical prescribing qualification if you are eligible to prescribe. The flexible structure lets you spread taught modules over several years or fast-track in 2.5 years, with a dissertation to develop research competence.
