If you hold a relevant master’s degree or have professional experience in ageing studies, this doctoral research programme in gerontology offers you the chance to develop an independent research agenda under the guidance of specialist supervisors.

The study is individually arranged; you and your supervisor will devise a training plan that reflects your background. Candidates without an ESRC-recognised research training master’s must complete selected units from the Centre’s MSc programme, while those with such a qualification continue through required activities. You will also be expected to attend the annual postgraduate research days, the postgraduate research conference and the regular seminars hosted by the Centre and the School of Social Sciences. Progress is reviewed regularly through meetings with the supervisory team to ensure the research remains on track.
