The Bachelorstudiengang Midwifery programme at Hochschule Osnabrück, which requires applicants to have completed a state-approved midwifery education and hold a Hebamme/Entbindungspfleger licence, addresses the intellectual problem of how to implement modern perinatal medicine in practice. Midwifery is about care of childbearing women and their babies, and graduates will have to combine a wide range of skills in clinical medicine, health care policy, and primary care. Modules like 'Midwifery Care in the First Trimester' equip students with the theoretical and practical skills to deliver modern maternity care.

It’s directed at qualified midwives, who can study while working, and is offered in cooperation with the local health sector. The programme runs for 7 semesters (3.5 years), starting in March.
